Working with a dedicated team of experienced clinicians and academics, you’ll gain an in-depth understanding of:
- How the human body works
- How to help people stay healthy
- How to treat and support people with long-term and acute illnesses.
During your three years at Roehampton, you’ll demonstrate achievement of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) standards of proficiency for registered nurses.
You’ll develop the values and behaviours that underpin the NHS Constitution, such as putting service users at the centre of their care and treating people with compassion, dignity and respect.
You will learn about nursing as a profession and its central role within 21st century health and care services. You will also learn about the shift towards integrated care in the community as part of the NHS Long Term Plan.
You’ll also gain the confidence to communicate with a diverse range of people, which is a pre-requisite in the health and care professions.
Specific entry requirements
- A levels/BTEC (or equivalent qualification): at least one science or health-related subject.
- GCSE (or equivalent) grades 4/C in Maths and English (at least one science subject desirable).
- Applicants will also undertake an interview. Successful applicants will need to complete an Occupational Health (OH) Check and an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) Check.
BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing at University of Roehampton is eligible for Student Finance England funding: a tuition fee loan of up to £9,535 per year paid directly to the university, plus a maintenance loan of up to £13,762 per year for your living costs. There is no upper age limit — mature students apply through exactly the same process. Repayments only start once you earn over £25,000 a year.

General Entry Requirements for University of Roehampton (Undergraduate)
General requirements:
All offers are subject to our general entrance requirements.
For undergraduate courses, these are ordinarily one of the following:
- Passes in two distinct subjects at GCE Advanced Level; or
- A pass in one subject at GCE Advanced Level plus (a) passes in two distinct subjects at GCE Advanced Subsidiary Level, or (b) a Vocational A-Level Single Award, or (c) two Vocational A-Level part Awards;
- A Vocational A-Level Double Award; or
- A Vocational A-Level Single Award plus (a) two Vocational A-Level part Awards, or (b) passes in two distinct subjects at GCE Advanced Subsidiary Level; or
- A BTEC National Certificate or Diploma; or
- A completed T Level award; or
- A Scottish Certificate of Education with (a) passes in five subjects, including at least three at Higher grade, or (b) passes in four subjects all at Higher grade or New Higher grade; or
- The full Diploma of the International Baccalaureate; or
- An Irish Leaving Certificate with passes in four subjects at Grade C at the Higher level.
For some courses we require applicants to achieve a GCSE Grade C/4 or above in specific subjects, or an equivalent qualification.
