Course Overview
Our industry-focussed programme delivers an accounting and finance degree that prepares you for a professional, managerial or business career. It will equip you with the highly-sought employability skills that employers are looking for, opening up opportunities for career progression and development.
Combining theoretical learning and practical knowhow, you'll build knowledge on a wide range of accounting and finance-related topics. These include financial reporting, managerial accounting, audit and assurance, taxation, law and corporate finance.
The Institute of Financial Accountants, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants offer graduates of this course exemptions when applying for membership.
The foundation year will prepare you for university-level study and introduce you to the key accounting and financial management contexts and concepts you'll need to progress through the rest of the course.

Upon successful completion of the BSc (Hons) Accounting & Financial Management, students will be eligible to enter CIMA at Management Level, receiving 8 exemptions.
BSc (Hons) Accounting & Financial Management with Foundation Year is offered by Canterbury Christ Church University in partnership with GBS. Students can choose from flexible class schedules such as Weekday, Weekend, Evening, allowing them to balance education with other commitments. The programme is offered in Full Time study modes, ensuring accessibility for learners. It supports various academic pathways, including Bachelors levels, making it suitable for a wide range of students seeking professional or academic advancement. Entry Requirements for BSc (Hons) Accounting & Financial Management
Applicants Must be Aged 18+ and:
- Have a Level 3 qualification (equivalent to either 60 credits or 80 UCAS tariff points)
- Have five GCSEs at grade 4/C or above or equivalent.
- Be assessed via an interview for listening, speaking, numeracy and writing (more details shown in ‘Next steps’ section).
Applicants Aged 21+:
- We welcome applications from students 21+ who do not match the standard entry requirements but who can demonstrate willingness and commitment to studying this subject, and who can evidence academic, professional or vocational experience in a related field.
- Be assessed via an interview for listening, speaking, and writing
Interview Process in Canterbury Christ Church University
GBS welcomes walk-in interviews from Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
No appointment is required — simply visit the campus at a convenient time.

- Proof of ID (e.g., Passport or Driving Licence)
- All relevant academic certificates and supporting documents
Interview Preparation
The interview consists of two parts:
1. Speaking Interview
During the speaking interview, you may be asked about:
- Why you want to study your chosen course.
- Your educational background or work experience.
- Your future career plans.
- Why you have chosen to study at GBS.
Tips:
- Speak clearly and confidently.
- Answer honestly using your own words.
- If you do not understand a question, politely ask the interviewer to repeat or explain it.
2. Written Task
You will complete a 350-word written task during your interview.
Tips:
- Read the question carefully before starting.
- Plan your answer before writing.
- Use clear and simple English.
- Stay focused on the topic.
- Allow time to check your spelling and grammar.
