Course Overview
Bring your ideas to life through visual storytelling, creative experimentation and industry-ready design practice. On our BA (Hons) Graphic Design degree, you’ll develop skills in typography, editorial design, branding, motion graphics and user experience, while exploring the creative potential of both digital and print media.
From day one, you’ll work on live briefs and collaborative projects that reflect real industry challenges. You’ll experiment with different approaches, refine your creative identity, and build a professional portfolio that showcases your versatility as a designer.
With a strong focus on innovation and employability, you’ll graduate ready for the realities of today’s fast-paced design industry. Career paths include graphic designer, art director, UX/UI designer, motion graphic artist and creative content manager.
If you don’t yet meet the entry requirements, you can still join through our Foundation in Design and Creative Business (Level 3) before progressing onto the full BA.
FOUNDATION (YEAR 0) DESIGN & CREATIVE BUSINESS
This 30-week course is designed to equip you with the academic skills and subject knowledge needed to progress on to study at undergraduate level. You’ll develop a unique portfolio of work throughout the course, helping you to progress onto a degree in any creative subject.
Stage 1
The first stage covers the key areas related to your degree programme and will focus on either creative design or business. You’ll learn the theoretical knowledge and debates surrounding these disciplines and the historical and international contexts which underpin them. You will also begin to build the foundations for studying at degree level.
Stage 2
This stage builds on the key research, analytical and reflective skills built in Stage 1. You will also have the opportunity to explore specialist areas of study and focus on your chosen path within the creative arts or business.
Stage 3
You’ll undertake a self-directed, specialist project which will synthesise and conclude your newly learned knowledge. The Final Major Project consists of three units which include advanced language and study skills needed for progression onto an LCCA design or creative business undergraduate degree.
BA (Hons) Graphic Design is offered by University for the Creative Arts in partnership with LCCA. Students can choose from flexible class schedules such as Weekday, allowing them to balance education with other commitments. The programme is offered in Full Time study modes, ensuring accessibility for learners. It supports various academic pathways, including Bachelors levels, making it suitable for a wide range of students seeking professional or academic advancement. English Language Requirements for University for the Creative Arts
- GCSE English at grade C/4 or equivalent · Functional Skills English Level 2. ·
- Duolingo English Test (DET) 85 minimum preferably no minimum per component
- If your first language is not English, you will need an IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent.

- BTEC Extended Diploma (Merit, Pass, Pass).
- UAL Extended Diploma (Pass).
- 32 UCAS Tariff points from an Access to Higher Education Diploma.
- International Baccalaureate (24 points).
- Four GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above, including English (or Functional Skills English/Key Skills Communication Level 2).
Alternative Entry
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
- English proficiency and suitable business skills.
- Successful admissions interview.
Year 1 Entry
Standard Requirements
- 112 UCAS Tariff points.
- Foundation Diploma in Art & Design (Level 3 or 4).
- BTEC Extended Diploma (Merit, Pass, Pass).
- UAL Extended Diploma (Merit).
- 112 UCAS Tariff points from an Access to Higher Education Diploma.
- International Baccalaureate (27–30 points).
- Four GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above, including English (or Functional Skills English/Key Skills Communication Level 2).
Other Information
- Equivalent UK and international Level 3 qualifications are accepted.
- Applicants from diverse educational backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
- IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent) is required if English is not your first language.
