Entry Requirements in New College Durham
Standard Entry
Applicants should normally meet the following requirements:
- A minimum of three GCSEs at Grade C (Grade 4) or above, including English and Mathematics (or an equivalent Level 2 qualification).
- A minimum of 32 UCAS Tariff Points (80 UCAS points under the previous tariff).
- A Level 3 Accredited Business Qualification.
- An Access to Higher Education Diploma in a business-related subject.
- An IELTS score of 5.5 (or equivalent English language qualification).
Non-Standard Entry
Applicants who do not meet the standard entry requirements are still encouraged to apply.
Applications may be considered based on one or more of the following:
- A Level 3 qualification in a non-business subject.
- Relevant work experience supported by employer reference(s).
- A personal statement.
- A one-to-one interview.
- English and Mathematics skills, which will be assessed during the application process.
English Language Requirements in New College Durham
- You must pass CECOS' English language screening test if you lack certification that shows you have the necessary level of English ability.
- You will be evaluated under supervision on your reading, writing, speaking, and listening abilities.
- You might need to take pre-sessional lessons and take a final English exam in order to enrol in chosen course.
- You will be excluded from this step if you have a recognised English qualification.
- It takes about 90 minutes to finish the basic English evaluation.
Interview Process in New College Durham

If your application is successful, you will be invited to attend an online interview with a member of the CECOS Academic Team. The interview typically lasts around 30 minutes.
During the Interview

- Your knowledge of the subject area, industry, and related career opportunities.
All applicants who meet the entry requirements are required to complete an academic interview as part of the admissions process.
