Overview
Apply professional engineering knowledge to understand, modify and control biological systems on this 3-year BEng (Hons) Biomedical Engineering degree.
You’ll study disciplines such as:
- rehabilitation engineering – prosthetic / orthotic devices
- biomaterials and implant design
- tissue engineering and wound repair for artificial organs

Programme options
We also offer a 4-year version of the BEng which includes a 'sandwich' placement year in industry. The placement year is an excellent way to develop your professional experience, build industry contacts, and gain insight into the day-to-day work of a professional engineer.
You may also be interested in our MEng Biomedical Engineering programmes. We offer a 4-year version of the MEng and a 5-year version with sandwich year. These programmes give you a Master's level degree on graduation, with the additional year enabling further study of the technical and managerial aspects of biomedical engineering.
Professional accreditation
The BEng in Biomedical Engineering is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). It's recognised by the UK Engineering Council as leading to partial Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with some further learning required.
This means you'll have a great head start to a professional engineering career in related medical and healthcare fields and widespread international recognition for your degree.
Biomedical Engineering BEng (Hons) at University of Bradford International College is eligible for Student Finance England funding: a tuition fee loan of up to £9,535 per year paid directly to the university, plus a maintenance loan of up to £13,762 per year for your living costs. There is no upper age limit — mature students apply through exactly the same process. Repayments only start once you earn over £25,000 a year.
