Course summary
This course prepares you to become skilled managers and practitioners in the financial services industry. You’ll develop expertise in practical trading systems and emerging financial technologies, such as blockchain, AI, and machine learning. Through hands-on learning, you'll improve your technical, conceptual, and analytical skills.
A key feature is the “Trading Room” environment, where you’ll use the London Stock Exchange (LSEG) Workspace to analyse actual market data like a financial trader.
You’ll also learn to solve real-world financial problems and create accurate financial models, equipping you for the challenges of the complex financial markets.

How you'll learn
A range of teaching and learning methods, including lectures, seminars, and group work, will be used to encourage you to develop intellectual and cognitive skills. All methods will employ, to some extent, features like didactic exposition, interactive sessions, research, and directed private study.
MSc Fintech and Trading at The University of Sunderland is eligible for Student Finance England funding: a tuition fee loan of up to £9,535 per year paid directly to the university, plus a maintenance loan of up to £13,762 per year for your living costs. There is no upper age limit — mature students apply through exactly the same process. Repayments only start once you earn over £25,000 a year.
