How you'll learn
You will learn through a combination of lectures, seminars, workshops and practical laboratory sessions, applying your knowledge across areas such as software development, cloud computing, data management, artificial intelligence and machine learning. Practical learning is embedded throughout the course, giving you opportunities to work with industry-standard tools and technologies while developing solutions to real-world computing challenges. As a postgraduate student, you will be expected to take an active and independent approach to learning, building the analytical, technical and problem-solving skills required for advanced study and professional practice. Assessment is entirely coursework-based and includes software development projects, technical portfolios, case studies, professional reports, presentations and the Capstone Project. MSc Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence at The University of Sunderland is eligible for Student Finance England funding: a tuition fee loan of up to £9,535 per year paid directly to the university, plus a maintenance loan of up to £13,762 per year for your living costs. There is no upper age limit — mature students apply through exactly the same process. Repayments only start once you earn over £25,000 a year.
